Animal Grief Healing Session
My reiki master training has granted me the ability to do animal grief healing meditation sessions for individuals, groups and animals. This can be a powerful tool for processing grief and helping the healing process. I offer this as a complimentary service to the horse community. If you have recently experienced the passing of a beloved equine companion and are interested in a grief healing meditation session, please reach out to me.
*Please note, if I must travel longer than two hours round-trip to reach you, a 20% travel service charge will be applied.

FAQs
-
An equine massage therapist rubs and kneads the soft tissues of the horse’s body. The soft tissues include muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and skin. The massage therapist varies the amount of pressure and movement. Similarly to people, the benefits of equine massage include, stress reduction, relaxation, lessening muscle tightness and pain, improving blood flow, reducing inflammation, assisting immune system functionality. Equine athletes, working and companion horses can all benefit from the healing powers of massage.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is translated as “Universal Life Force Energy” and is a Japanese technique used for stress-reduction and relaxation. Reiki promotes healing and positive energy flow. When Reiki is done through touch, a warm, soothing energy flows from the hands into the horse, promoting relaxation and releasing tension. *Reiki is even used in human hospital settings to improve patient care and healing.
-
Just as with humans, Reiki is a complementary therapy for all animals, but horses especially--because of their highly sensitive nature. The Reiki energy is transmitted from the practitioner’s hands into the horse’s body (a touch-free option is also available). The warmth created by this energy work leads to a deep relaxation for the horse and the energy is soothing, balancing and healing. Reiki is a gentle energy that will never cause harm and promotes physical, emotional, mental and spiritual benefits for horses.

Wherever your horse is most comfortable and relaxed. Reiki and massage sessions a typically done with horses either in their stall, tied in a barn aisle or in the pasture surrounded by their herd.
-
The massage technique is based in Swedish massage; however, I infuse advanced body work such as, cranial-sacral therapy, acupressure, myofascial release and stretching based on the needs of the horse.
My reiki title is Usui/Holy Fire® III (Animal and Human) Reiki Master. This lineage of reiki is taught by The International Center for Reiki Training.

While horses can benefit from massage on most occasions, there are some exceptions. Avoid massage if your equine companion is experiencing shock, trauma, active infection, or has an elevated body temperature. Also, avoid having your horse massaged for his/her first time before a competition. Last, if your horse is in the first trimester of her pregnancy, she can receive a massage, but I request a veterinarian’s note stating they agree to the massage.
Reiki can be administered in all situations. A hands-free or remote option would be best in some of the situations listed above.
